| Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area
Jiuzhaigou, reputed as a ¡°fairyland¡±, is situated in the central south part of the Jiuzhaigou country of the Abe Tibetan and Qiang autonomous prefecture in Sichuan Province, China, being a tributary of the Baishuihe River on the Jialingjiang River of the Changjiang water system. It is so named because of the nine Tibetan villages in the scenic area such as the Heye villages, the Shuzheng Village and the Zezhawa Village. With an elevation of 2000-3100m above sea-level, the scenic area enjoys pleasant climate and beautiful colors all the year round, being one of the world¡¯s famous scenic areas possessing the best tourist environment.
The Jiuzhagou Scenic Area was listed into the World Natural Heritage Catalog in 1992, approved as a man-and-biosphere reserve in the world in 1997, evaluated as one of the first state 4A-level sceneries in China in 2000, and awarded the certificate of Sustainable 21st Century Tourism in February, 2001.It is one of the excellent scenic areas in China, one of the 40 best scenic sports in the country, and the head of the three tourist creams in Sichuan Province.
Jiuzhagou is an agglomeration of green lakes, overlying waterfalls, colorful forests and snow mountains as well as the custom and culture of the Tibetan and Qiang nationalities, characterized its primitive and natural features. In the ¡°Y¡±¡ªshape valley formed by Shuzheng Gully, Rize Gully and Zezhawa Gully of the Scenic are distributed 114 green lakes, 47 springs, 17 waterfall groups, 11 sections of turbulent streams, 5 karst shoals and 3 Tibetan villages. The scenic area has an area of 1320 square kms including 30,00 hectares of primitive forest where in are living 2576 protospecies including scores of stat-protected animals and plants such as the giant panda, golden monkey and mono-leaf grass.
The water in Jiuzhagou is the soul of Jiuzhagou. As it is purely and crystally clear and rich in colorist, there goes the saying that no water is worth your attention after your visit to Jiuzhagou. The water the reflections on the lake, the stone mill, the Tibetan villages, the Buddhist streamers and the songs and dances of the Tibetan and Qiang people constitute the unique tourist culture of Jiuzhaigou.
